As Halloween approaches, the excitement for ALLLL the festivities in Bellingham begins to build.

Our “City of Subdued Excitement” offers a variety of spooky and fun activities for all ages, from family-friendly trick-or-treating events to thrilling haunted houses.

Local businesses and community organizations come together to create a festive atmosphere, ensuring everyone can enjoy the spirit of the season.

Let’s do a devilish and delightful deep dive into some of the popular events, beginning with Compass’s own public event located right in Fairhaven!

1. Compass FEARHaven Event, October 31st 3-6 p.m.

Join us at the Compass Bellingham office this Halloween for the much-anticipated annual FEARHaven Brick-or-Treat event!

This year, we're embracing a nostalgic retro superhero theme, promising a fun and memorable experience for all.

I’ll be there along with many of the Compass agents and staff, handing out candy and welcoming you to check out our spoooooky and FUN set-up in the friendly (but freeky!) Compass Real Estate office headquarters.

Compass is located at 1318 12th St., Bellingham, WA 98225.

2. Spooktacular 2024 at Woodstock Farm

Spooktacular 2024 at Woodstock Farm is an experience you won’t want to miss.

Accessible via a shuttle from Fairhaven Park, the journey itself sets the mood—imagine riding through the crisp autumn air, the scent of fallen leaves mingling with the earthy smell of the farm.

Once you arrive, the panoramic views of Bellingham Bay come into focus, especially during sunset when the golden light casts a warm glow over the festivities. Admission ranges from $15 to $25.

As you walk through the event, the laughter of children and the distant echoes of a haunted house draw you in.

The barn transforms into a thrilling haunted experience, with dimly lit corridors and the occasional jump scare that will have you gasping.

I’ve always found that the best time to visit is just as dusk settles; that magical moment when the twinkling lights begin to shine and the air gets a bit cooler creates an enchanting atmosphere perfect for family bonding or a fun night out with friends.

Woodstock Farm is located at 107 Chuckanut Drive N., Bellingham, WA 98225.

3. Downtown Trick-or-Treat

Downtown Trick-or-Treat along Commercial Street is a beloved tradition that brings the community together.

Picture this: kids in colorful costumes darting from shop to shop, their giggles filling the air as they collect treats.

The shops are adorned with spooky decorations, creating a festive atmosphere. This FREE alternative to neighborhood trick-or-treating is organized by the Downtown Bellingham Partnership, which will provide maps, activities, and, of course, plenty of candy at the Commercial Street Plaza located at 1300 Commercial

You can start your adventure at any intersection in Downtown Bellingham. The best time to visit is early evening, just as the streetlights flicker on.

The soft glow of the lights mixed with the vibrant costumes creates a magical ambiance.

It feels like a neighborhood block party, where everyone knows each other, and the spirit of Halloween truly comes alive.

Join in on October 31, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for an unforgettable evening!

4. Bleedingham Film Festival

The Bleedingham Film Festival at the Pickford Film Center is a haven for horror enthusiasts.

I’ve attended several screenings, and each time, the excitement in the air is palpable. The cozy theater, with its vintage charm, makes for an intimate viewing experience.

As you settle into your seat, the smell of buttery popcorn wafts through the air, mingling with the anticipation of watching spine-tingling films.

On October 26, Bleedingham will showcase a collection of chilling horror shorts from both local filmmakers and talents around the globe, adding to its reputation as a cherished October tradition.

What I appreciate most is the post-screening discussions that often occur, allowing fans to share their thoughts and favorite moments.

If you can, try to catch a late-night showing—there’s something thrilling about watching horror films in the dark, with the streets of Bellingham quiet outside, making you feel enveloped in the film's world.

5. Spirits at SPARK: A Historical Séance

For something truly unique, the Spirits at SPARK: A Historical Séance at the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention combines history and the supernatural in an unforgettable way.

Nestled at 1312 Bay St, Bellingham, WA, this hidden gem transforms into a realm of eerie curiosity during the séance.

As you step inside, the scent of aged wood and metallic inventions greets you, while flickering candlelight casts ghostly shadows across the walls.

On October 31, 2024, at 7:00 PM, guests can enjoy an enchanting evening featuring Close Up Magic by John Walton in the museum galleries.

A complimentary snack bar will be available, along with specialty cocktails, beer, and wine for purchase, generously sponsored by Gruff Brewing and Chuckanut Bay Distillery.

All ticket and drink sales, along with donations, will support SPARK Museum and Wonderlab!

The museum’s historical artifacts add an extra layer of intrigue, making you feel as if you’re part of a living history lesson intertwined with ghostly tales.

Costume prizes will be awarded for the most impressive outfits, so be sure to dress to impress!

Keep in mind that this event features a vaudeville-style performance of a séance, with no actual attempts to contact the dead.

It’s a 21+ event designed for entertainment and education. If you have an interest in the paranormal, this experience offers a unique glimpse into the intriguing history of Bellingham.

6. Halloween at Mammoth Mini Golf and Neon Shadows Halloween Party

For a more lighthearted Halloween experience, Halloween at Mammoth Mini Golf offers a playful twist with glow-in-the-dark decorations that transform the course into a whimsical wonderland.

You’ll find it at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway, Suite 354 in Bellingham, WA, running from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on October 26, 2024.

As you putt your way through, the vibrant colors and sounds of laughter create a lively atmosphere.

I love stopping by in the late afternoon; the golden hour light enhances the glow, making the mini-golfing experience even more enchanting.

Afterward, head over to the Neon Shadows Halloween Party at Bar Two Eleven, where the energy is contagious, with live music and themed drinks that set the stage for a fantastic night out.
