City Center

City Center

The City Center neighborhood (aka "Downtown") is the cultural and financial center of Bellingham, serving the entire city with its businesses, art district, waterfront, and industrial zones. The City Center is less one cohesive neighborhood and more a combination of very diverse areas right on the edge of Bellingham Bay. The Arts District contains the Mount Baker Theatre and art museum, while Old Town is full of historic buildings and character. The Downtown Core is made up of the many restaurants, stores, boutiques, and professional buildings that make the City Center a bright and bustling place. The Port of Bellingham and the city have recently worked together to develop a plan for transforming nearly 137 acres of waterfront, once again making the City Center the forefront of change in the city. Within its borders you can also find city, county, and justice buildings as well as the public library and post office.

The neighborhood is a diverse mixture of residential, retail, professional, and industrial businesses. Due to its urban nature, the City Center is very walkable and bikeable and many residents don’t need a car to run errands and find recreational opportunities. The majority of residents rent. Of all the residential units, there is an even mix of smaller homes and apartments, with some larger houses closer to the water. This neighborhood is an excellent choice for college students, single professionals, or those new to the area and wanting to get to know the beautiful city. The benefits are endless, with everything so close by. The Bellingham Farmers MarketZuanich ParkMallard's Ice Cream, and artisan coffee houses all attract citizens from all over the city.

Without a doubt, City Center is an exciting and dynamic place to live with countless opportunities to explore the depths of Bellingham. If you’re considering taking a closer look, don’t hesitate to contact a BNP agent  to get more information!
