Summer 2021 was a ROARING SUCCESS in the fun department!!!
In early June, Heather and I teamed up and raced in the Bellingham SwimRun at Lake Padden.
Remember, SwimRun is swimming in your running shoes and running in your wetsuit! Trail – lake – trail – lake – trail – lake… never changing gear, just swimming dirty and running wet and wild!
(If you’re on Facebook, click here to watch our “This is Swimrun” short video.)
Heather and the kids have been training and competing in Ninja Warrior obstacle racing since pre-pandemic.
There is a world-class gym here in town called Life Force Ninja…
We’ve put time and elbow grease into our own obstacle course at home, too.
*in July, Heather and Jazzy traveled to Las Vegas for the UNAA Ninja World Championships, where they will both compete in the champs!
I also had the great honor to visit my California whitewater crew from my 20’s!
I flew down for a weekend and spent two days paddling the river I first learned on, the South Fork of the American.
I hadn’t reunited with these close, close friends on the river this way in 18 years. It was MAGICAL!
As for what project I worked on at home… we’ll, it’s been a slow but VERY fun journey.
When Covid hit in March 2020, we added a swim spa to our backyard so we could all keep swim-training despite all the larger pools being closed.
Once the pool was positioned, I built a deck around it, then added a “cabana” so we could stand out of the rain while we suited up or toweled off.
Then I added the cedar shake roofing, and sanded and stained the decking.
This will be a continued work in progress as I wall in the back and sides of the cabana, outfit the interior spaces, and work on landscaping around the deck.
Did someone say, “POOL PARTY!!!!!!!!”
