The park is also home to the Whatcom Rowing Association's beautiful boathhouse and rowing programs for rank beginners and experienced veterans of the sport. Also, on any given Wednesday night from March through October, many dozens of kayaks, surfskis and outrigger canoes will be found lining up to race a 3.5-mile course around the shores of Silver Beach. It's open to anyone with a paddlecraft, and these informal weekly races always start at 6 p.m.

For those craving more land-based adventures near Silver Beach, walking trails connect Bloedel to Whatcom Falls Park, the surrounding neighborhoods, and the rest of the city. Residents take pride in the well kept appearance of the parks and trails, as well as the friendly community.
